Water Rationing FTL

My other essay that I chose was from CBS news. I could not find a print essay at 2 in the morning so I chose to do another online essay. The article is called “Water Rationing Coming To Santa Clara County” by CBS5 news. In the article it tells the readers that on Tuesday the Santa Clara County Board of Directors voted to start rationing water during the spring time, but the amount is not specified and will be discussed in a meeting in March. Right now the water providers are voluntarily reducing water by six percent, but if the rationing goes through we will have to reduce our use of water by 20-30%. The decision is making it hard for water providers to prepare for the rationing because there is no set time or amount on the rationing. Keith Whitman who is the deputy operation officer says that “Once details are finalized at the March meeting, water providers will need between six weeks and three months to make the water restrictions a reality.”
I chose this article because being in the Santa Clara County, San Jose is affected by this decision and how we use our water will also change. I think it will be hard to enforce this rationing because of how vague the information given from the district is. Even though I do not like the rain, hopefully there will be enough rain for the district to call off the rationing because I do not know how I to change my water use habits.

San Jose State increasing tuition WTF!

For my online essay I chose an article relating to San Jose State called ,"San Jose State University plans to increase tuition 10 percent, reduce enrollment next fall" by Lisa Krieger because it relates to myself and my peers directly. The article states that tuition will likely increase 10 percent or from $1524 a semester to $1675. They will also reduce the number of incoming graduate students by 400 and undergraduate students by 3000 students. The university is also trying to get super seniors who have enough credits to graduate, to graduate. They are also going to the extent to waive degree requirements for super seniors. The university is planning on hiring less part time lecturers and they are planning on freezing the salaries of the faculty and staff.
I chose this article because this article affects me and all the students and faculty of San Jose State. If they increase the tuition it will make it hard for a lot of people to pay for the tuition. A 10% increase in tuition may not seem like a lot but to some people like me it is considered a lot. The tuition increase can be blamed on the recent recession that the United States is facing. I use to think that the recession would not affect me as much, but it is starting to prove me wrong.

President Jon Whitmore states, “Limiting the number of students is not easy, working together, with thoughtful management, we will weather this storm.” Hopefully this will be the last tuition increase that I will have to face because one of my main reasons I came to San Jose State was because the tuition was more affordable than other universities, but if they continue on like this I do not think I will be able to handle it.

hello everyone!

This is my academic blog for my English 1B class. I am a freshman at San Jose University and I am undeclared for my major. Unfortunately I did not save my homework electronically so I do not have anything worth reading here.
