I read an article in the San Jose Mercury News called, "Car that crashed into Foster City home was speeding, police say." The article was a follow up article about a car crash that happened in a Foster City neighborhood on Saturday night. Julia Olson drove her 1997 Thunderbird into a house's dining room while the residents was upstairs. She was the only person in the car and was critically injured while the residents of the home was unharmed. The police now think that the crash happened due to excessive speeding instead of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs because toxicology reports came back negative. The house will be paid by the insurance and the driver will not be charged with negligience or malicious intent because there is no evidence of it.
I think that this is a good article to talk about because of her sheer stupidity she is now in the hospital due to the fact that she was speeding. First I am wondering why the person was speeding so fast down a residential neighborhood at night if she was not intoxicated. Second, I am wondering why the person was speeding in this bad weather we are having in the bay area, because not only is it dangerous, it can also hurt other people if you do crash. Thankfully the people in the house was unharmed or this would be a completely different story. Hopefully people will be able to learn from this article that it is very dangerous to be speeding in a residential area because residential streets are not very wide and if you do crash you can easily hit a house with people in it and injure or even kill them. Another thing that I hope people can get from this article is that driving fast in rain can be very dangerous because you can easily hydroplane and lose control of your car.
